Nikon D3100 Review

The Nikon D3100 is a breath taking entry-level DSLR camera. At the price point of about $600 everyone looking to enter professional photography should consider this option. This camera takes high quality still photos of up to 4608x3072 with JPEG and makes shooting in RAW a breeze. It gives you the ability to shoot in JPEG, NEF RAW, and NEF RAW+JPEG.This allows you to capture stunning images. Not only does this camera take amazing pictures but can shoot HD video in up to 1920x1080p at 24 fps, which is the main difference between its predecessor the Nikon D3000. It also has tons of creative filters and different shooting modes including the guide mode, which makes shooting with the D3100 as easy as counting to 3. It's body feels great and very lightweight in the hand, brings a built in flash, and an optical viewfinder. You can start shooting with this right out of the box and it is compatible with hundreds of Nikon lenses (it has a Nikon F-mount with AF contacts). The layout of the buttons is perfect and everything is easily accessible. It uses a lithium-ion battery which could use a little more juice. In my experience it should get you through one day of shooting. It has an HDMI port, Mini USB, and can connect to a GPS. Overall, the Nikon D3100 is an outstanding entry level DSLR at the ideal price range. I give it 4 stars.

Kodak Easyshare Z915

The Kodak Easyshare Z915 is a great camera. It has a 10x optical zoom and a 5x digital zoom. It has 10 megapixel and a kodak retinar. It is fairly simple to use with Kodak's automatic mode "Smart Capture". But it also has more advanced features for the photographers who want more creative controls over their camera such as shutter priority, aperture priority, program, and a manual mode with the ability to control aperture, shutter speed, flash, etc. It also has several scenes and a panorama mode. It also has an action mode to capture those split second shots. The camera has a good flash with red-eye reduction you can choose from either pre-flash or digital correction. It also has a self timer and a macro mode. The camera can also record video and has the option for an HDMI output for an HDTV. The only major problems I have encountered with the camera is that the auto focus doesn't function well in macro mode, and the camera's automatic features don't function well in low-light conditions. Also, the camera loses focus while zooming in video recording mode. It retails for around $130 in most stores. Overall, this is a great camera for a photographer hoping to learn manual controls and you can't beat the price. See my video review at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXFLX_p78wo

Apple Ipod Touch 3 Generation Review

A few weeks ago I purchased an 32 GB Apple Ipod Touch 3 Generation. So far the performance has been wonderful. It has great graphics, it's extremely fast, and is the perfect pocket computer. It makes a great music player, video player, and an over all great gaming device. On the ipod touch you have some of the features of a mac such as the itunes store, safari, the app store, mail, etc. You also have the features of a regular ipod such as music, videos, podcasts, etc. The ipod touch comes in 3 versions with different capacities. There is the 8 GB, 32 GB, and the 64 GB. Most people get by on the 8 GB. However, if you have more data or plan on downloading a lot of pages of apps I suggest the 32 GB. Now, if you have A LOT of songs, pictures and videos to transfer I suggest getting the 64 GB. The prices each differ by $100. The 8 GB starts at $199, the 32 GB for $299 and the 64 GB for $399. The ipod touch has very few buttons. It has the home button located under the screen that will take to the home screen from wherever you are. If held down it activates voice control, if pressed once on home screen takes you to spotlight, and if pressed 3 times it will display several options. It also has the volume rockers which control the volume. Lastly, the ipod touch also has the sleep/wake button which can lock the screen or turn on/off the ipod. Overall, the Apple Ipod Touch is a great purchase if you're looking for a great pocket computer, ipod, and gaming device.
